  5. This text file briefly describes hardware and software requirements to
  6. run this program.  Please use Windows Write to view the Readme.wri file
  7. on this disk for additional information and program instructions.

  10. Welcome to Standard Form 171 for Windows.  This program was written 
  11. specifically for use with Windows 3.1 and the runtime version 1.53 
  12. of Toolbook.
  13.  
  14. Required Hardware
  15.  
  16. COMPUTER
  17. We recommend that users of this program have at least a 386 computer 
  18. with 4 megabytes of memory.  The program will run on a 286 computer 
  19. with 3 megabytes of extended memory, but a faster computer is highly 
  20. recommended.  If you don't have 4 megabytes of memory, please close 
  21. all other Windows applications prior to running SF 171 for Windows.
  22.  
  23. If you have a video card capable of Super VGA resolution, we recommend 
  24. running the program in the 16 color mode. The program may be run in the 
  25. 256 color mode providing you have extra memory and one of the more common
  26. video cards, but it will run notably slower.
  27.  
  28. EGA graphics systems have a screen aspect ratio that is not supported by
  29. this version of the program.
  30.  
  31. PRINTERS
  32. This release of the SF 171 program has been tested for use on Hewlett 
  33. Packard LaserJet Series II and III printers, and a few Postscript printers.  
  34. The program has not been tested on any other printer.  The forms are very 
  35. complex and contain numerous fonts, lines, and other graphic objects.  As 
  36. such, it may take a while for the forms to print.  Print times can range from 
  37. 5 to 20 minutes depending upon the printer.  Some printers are not capable 
  38. of printing the entire form, because they do not have enough memory to 
  39. process all the fonts and a full page graphic image at 300 dots per inch.  
  40. If your printer will not print the form and the data, you have the option 
  41. of printing just the data on a preprinted form.   Some HP Laserjet 
  42. Series II printers are not capable of printing white text on a black 
  43. background.  If you printer cannot print white text on a black background,
  44. select "Set Title Boxes to Gray" using the View menu. Without this change,
  45. the white text in the title boxes (i.e. GENERAL INFORMATION or AVAILABILITY 
  46. on page 1 of the form) will not print properly.  The result will be black 
  47. boxes with no text.

  49. NOTE:  There may problems printing the form and the data with Series II 
  50. printers equipped with only 512k of printer memory.  
  51.  
  52. Please check the form over carefully before submitting it for a job.

  55. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you updating from a previous version or the shareware version 
  56. of the program, be sure to export your data to a floppy disk before installing the 
  57. new version of the program.  If you copy the registered version over the shareware 
  58. version, all the data you have entered in the Shareware version will be lost.

  61. PROGRAM INSTALLATION-
  62. 1.  Create a directory called SF171 on your hard disk. 
  63.     Copy the following files to this directory:    
  64.         TBOOK.EXE
  65.         TBKWIN.DLL
  66.         TBKUTIL.DLL
  67.         TBKCOMP.DLL
  68.         TBKBASE.DLL
  69.         SF171.TBK
  70.         SF171.ICO
  71.         README.WRI
  72.         INSTRUCT.WRI
  73.  
  74. 2.  Add SF 171 for Windows to the Program Manager:
  75.     a.  Click on "File" in the menu bar
  76.     b.  Click on "New" in the drop down menu under "File"
  77.     c.  Select "Program Item" and click "Ok"
  78.     d.  In the Description input box type SF 171
  79.     e.  In the Command line box type the following   
  80.             C:\SF171\TBOOK.EXE SF171.TBK
  81.     f.  Type C:\SF171 in the input box labeled "Working Directory"
  82.     g.  Click the "Change Icon..." button
  83.     h.  Again assuming you placed your files in a directory labeled 
  84.             SF171 on the C drive type "C:\SF171\SF171.ICO" in the 
  85.             "File Name" input box and click "Ok" twice.
  86.     i.  Click "Ok" again and the icon will appear in your program 
  87.             manager.

  89. 3.  Double click on the SF171 icon in your program manager to run the 
  90.     program.  
  91.  
  92. Be patient!! it may take a few seconds to load.
